After many requests, we have decided to open our news section of the website. We will strive to keep this section updated, and bring you the latest news and keep you informed in as much detail as possible.

Although Hostshell has been around many years, this news section will only cover from April 2002 onwards.

3rd June 2002

mercury has been moved to a faster datacentre (D1) from Reach in Singapore.

The move happened after staff within Reach notified us that we had better find a new host, as they looked to be closing down (they revoked our IP's just 36 hours later). Our Singapore staff found a new datacentre, which is part-owned by the Singaporean government, so the likelihood of it going bust would be minimal.

We now have a new IP range on mercury, and and have kept all original vhosts which are now resolving nicely.

19th May 2002

All hostshells' services are now quoted in USD. We will strive to bring multi-currency in the next few months.

We have also decided to have all products in this currency as we are now accepting live signups with the use of your credit card. As our merchant facility is US based, this will save any confusion when signing up. :)

21st April 2002

Plesk server administrator is now installed on all webservers.

This is great news as PSA is simple to use, and yet does not lack features!

Anybody should now feel confident running their own website, from creating email accounts, monitoring bandwidth, to creating and modifying DNS entries - PSA has it all!

All Hostshell's servers are now running FreeBSD! Due to the lack of stability in redhat and many clients requiring the use of a unix based kernel, we vow not to use linux ever again!

Redhat will now only be available for dedicated servers, and will not be supported by Hostshell.

We may also install some linux componants on the shell boxes if the need exists.
